Explanation of Spreadsheets

Sooooo, i should have known that after making the last post about the Ore Shuffle, and especially the part about the spreadsheets is going to get people to whisper me asking me for how to do it. Well i know i should just put a link to the Consortium where there is an explanation in the posts there and i tried but it only made it worse so here it is, a copy from their comments so everyone can find it easier.

First thing you need to do is go and make an account on The Undermine Journal, once you are logged there you can download your specific server's data as seen on the image.

Upon clicking that you will be asked where you want to save the file, so save it where you want.

Now once you have the file that contains your server's data saved you need to open it with Excel. The way to do this is you go in the Data Tab and open Connections as shown on the image.

Once you open this you get a new window where you need to hit Browse for more and find the file.

Once you have done this you have a choice, you can either set the refresh parameters to make it refresh it's data so it's current, or you can choose to only use the data you have downloaded and not set it up to refresh it's data. ( Very important is that if you want it to refresh make sure the threshold is over 288 minutes due to the fact that TUJ has a maximum number of allowed hashes you can do per day )

Hit OK until you're back to your spreadsheet, and make sure the TUJ data tab is selected. Now from the Data tab, hit Existing Connections

Select your newly-added connection, and hit Open. Make sure it goes in cell $A$1.

After you have filled this and you go back to the Prospecting tab you will find that all the prices are in the given fields, and all you need to do is set the number of stacks you have bought and it will tell you how much time you will need to invest and how much profit you should expect to get out of it. Oh and just in case, all of this that was explained need to be done while in the TUJ data tab which can be found on the bottom as shown on the image.

So that should clear up any confusion that people might have as to how to properly use spreadsheets that use the TUJ data as info base. And i will state once again, these instructions are not mine but were posted on the forums of the Consortium and the real gratitude should go to Baconcheese who is the user that made this walk through, i was only the messenger.

So, like always, keep an eye out for good opportunities out there.

Fashionable Gold Making

For the last few days while i was away, i managed to get access to wireless internet even though i though that i was going to be stuck in the middle of nowhere and would probably end up meeting Courage the Cowardly Dog ( you are awesome if you know him ). Well with the access to the net and no PC or laptop to get in the World of Warcraft i was left with the option to scour the social networks to find some entertainment, and get to see what the other people are doing. Well what i found out was a pure awesomeness in it's raw form.

Without further ado i would like to introduce to you a very interesting individual to follow, The Mogfather. You can find him on Twitter @DEazeroth. Now that i told you what to look at, let me tell you the why part.

If you have been reading my blog you can pickup many tips on how to configure your addons or how to make gold, some is from selling pets, some is from gems, some is from obvious sales but all in all it's how to make gold. Well this guy is taking a different approach at the gold making game, namely he is selling the pretty and the cool, and may i say it he's doing it rather well. Reading up on his Twitter and seeing his posts and sales he is doing more then well, he is doing fantastic and the reason why this is so fantastic is the sheer simplicity of it all.

What this cool cat is doing it buying out all the cheap greens that are Vanilla, TBC, Wrath and everything in between, then pricing it high and then reaping the winnings. I saw a few screens where he bought an item for 4g and flipped it for 1500g, and the best thing is it's not a one time deal, it's more of a constant, every day ordeal with him. So i have told you what this guy does, but now i will tell you why i decided to put the center light on him, with all the gold this guy is making he is pushing for one thing 1 million gold, but check this, he is not pushing to make 1 million gold, but rather give away 1 million gold from the sales he makes and that in my book says he's a worthy person to be following and give him a bit of the followers juice. So if you knew about this guy and was following him, then good for you, but if you have never heard of him then go check him out on Twitter and you will not be sorry, heck you might as well make some serious gold if you take his advice.

So, like always, keep an eye out for good opportunities out there.

Justice Maelstroms

Like i have said in a previous post, we are entering the post patch period when everyone that was hyped about the new patch has pretty much killed Deathwing, if nothing else on the LFR but still brought him down, and now are starting to look at either PvP or playing their alts. Well no matter where they turn they will still need gems and they will still need enchants. What this does to the economy is, it inflates the prices of the enchanting materials and certain gems.

This time we're gonna look at a way to effectively deal with the excess of justice points as well as a chance to dominate a certain market. As you are playing more and more on your character you start earning more and more justice points. Well in a while you get capped because there's nothing else left for you to buy and you are left with excess of justice points or even worse, you are capped and not getting any killing bosses while trying to get your dailies done.

There are two ways to go about with your excess justice points, and that is either try and hold the market on the BoE items which are 1650 points or go for the disenchant option. Don't get me wrong, there's no right and wrong here, there's only choice options. If you get into the BoE market you can make some gold but know that almost 90% of the people out there that are capped are doing the same and you might find yourself in a place where you can't sell your item for a very very long time.

Another viable choice, and this is my favorite one, though you need to be an enchanter to do it, is to buy the 700 point items and then disenchant them. The reason why this is a good and more importantly viable option, is simply because of the given inflation of the Maelstrom Crystals where on some servers it has reached prices of 500g. And another thing you should be mindful of is that whenever you DE an item you stand a chance to proc an extra from your guild perk so right there you can even double your money, and the best thing is that the Maelstroms are a fast moving commodity and their sales shouldn't take a long time.

I know this isn't a huge discovery, but you would be amazed at the number of people out there that don't know what to do with their points, or don't know how to profit from it and simply let it go to waste with the excuse that they are capped and no longer need them.

And last but not least, i would like to wish Merry Christmas to all of my readers, and may you have a great holiday with your friends and family, and i wish you all the best.

The Right Time For The Deal

In the business world, the timing of your undertaking into a certain market is one of the most important things. Well World Of Warcraft happens to work the same way. What i mean is quite simple, as in the real world, in WoW you need to be able to scope out the supply/need of given goods, then assess the situation and see if there's a way to take a bit of the over supply of one good and make it into goods that are in low supply. But enough about economics, i don't want to make this sound like a econ class, so lets get down to the WoW part of this whole thing.

As it just happens, now we are in the perfect spot to take advantage of this strategy i have been using for a long, long time now. Before i go even deeper, let me make it clear that for this strategy to have the full profit making potential, you will need to have a Jewelcrafter, and preferably some of the WOTLK gem patterns. Now would be the place where you start asking why?  Well, that perfect spot i was just talking about, that's the pre patch period when everyone is capped on justice points and valor points. What this means is that you can find people trying to monetize on their excess points by any means possible, it's better to get anything then nothing right. Well this is where you come in.

You have a choice, you can either try and do what almost everyone is doing, or you can play it smart and make triple that gold or even more. Here is how it all works.

In Dalaran you will find a Justice vendor selling all kinds of goods, but among all those now worthless items are the WOTLK uncut epic gems, and behold they are only 220 justice points. So what this does is, it's opening up a kind of a exchange office for justice. Now first thing you would think is that those gems are pretty much worthless because we have Cataclysm  gems, but you would be wrong. Epic WOTLK gems are still a very much sought after commodity, mainly from people twinking out their alts, or by people leveling up their alts, it doesn't matter which ones, they all need gems.

So at this vendor you can exchange your justice points for gems, or you can turn towards the troll cave (trade channel). Taking the latter would require just a hint of imagination for a catchy macro, and you will be swarmed with people whispering you trying to sell you their justice points. ( Are you capped on justice points, are you sick and tired of killing and plundering and getting nothing out of it because you are capped. Well whisper me and i will buy your justice points ) Another thing worth mentioning would be that, you are going to need another macro in which you will explain how to do it, because you will get gazillion whispers asking you how are you going to buy their justice points. This is also the part where you will need a way to get people to Dalaran, so being a mage, or having a friend of yours tag along and teleport people around is useful.

Now that we got the where, out of the way, it's time to get on the what part. Two of the most used epic gems, and the biggest sellers are the Cardinal Ruby and the King's Amber  The first one is the obvious one because it's the pure stats one, and the second one holds the +crit and the +resiliance buff which are both a great seller. What i've done in the past is, i have all those raw gems in a shopping list and whenever i would see them for less then 100g i would buy them out, cut them and repost them back for 195, and i would love it every time when i were to see them posted for prices like 20-30g. So if you are looking for some kind of a base line, check the prices on your AH, if someone has posted them for cheap (under 100g) buy them out and cut them. If you don't have a jewelcrafter it doesn't matter, buy them anyways and repost them at a higher price, and the person looking to buy one cut, will buy your raw gem and try the trade channel for someone to cut it for him. What i usually do is i pay 400g to someone for 1100 justice points (5 gems) and i end up selling them for 195g each which racks up nearly 1000, so there's 150% profit margin.

Before we head out, while you are still in Dalaran you might want to check out Frozo the Orb Trader. This is that crazy gnome flying on a carpet because he's too cheap to buy a mount. But crazy gnome aside, he's another exchange office kind of guy where he can turn those, usually, very cheap Frozen Orbs into things of a greater value like the Eternals or the Crusader Orbs (demand is very very limited). So while you are here, give ol' Frozo a check, and check the prices on Frozen Orbs as well as the Eternals and see if there's space for your profits in there.

So there we are for now, we saw how to "help" people get rid of their excess justice points and make profit from it, we saw which gems we should keep an eye out and we saw a gnome.

So, like always, keep an eye out for good opportunities out there.

The Ultimate Gambler ... Profiting ??

Ok, so i usually write about ways and trick on how to make gold while you are using the buy low, sell back at a profitable price, or even craft this, dominate market then profit. Today i would like to make a short post about something that caught my eye, which i think is something close to brilliant.

What i'm talking about is a guy i saw that was barking on trade channel offering 30g per Heavy Junkbox ,which on it's own is an item any rogue can pickpocket from humanoid mobs that are 55-59 level. I have to admit, once i saw his barks i was immediately intrigued as to why he was buying them and i asked. His answer was dodgy at the least he told me he was getting rep with the Ravenhold Mannor, which could be the case but there was something that simply didn't add up, he wanted the lockboxes UNOPENED. So i left him be and didn't put too much stock into what he was doing until the next day i saw that same guy on the AH posting Teebu's Blazing Longsword for 50k gold.

Now for those of you who weren't around in Vanilla WoW, or have never heard about this item, it's a sword that's really really resembling a lightsaber and even though it's stats are close to nothing coming patch 4.3 with the introduction of Transmogrification you will be able to make your weapon look like a lightsaber.  There are many people out there willing to shell out some serious gold, just so they can make their character as unique as possible. The catch with it is that it's a very very rare world drop and the Heavy Junkboxes have a 0.01% of dropping it.

So like i said in the title if you happen to be one of those people that enjoy a bit of gambling, or maybe have even tried the Mysterious Fortune Cards but didn't like their taste then you might consider taking up the ULTIMATE GAMBLE and try and obtain this elusive item be it through farming it or gambling for it by barking trade and offering a price for Heavy Junkboxes.

So like always keep your eyes peeled for good opportunities out there.

The Era Of The Truegold ... Let it Come

I will try to keep this post as short as possible, mainly because i would simply like to put it out there so people actually do take notice and get well stocked up for the upcoming patch. With the infamous Truegold, and yes, i did say infamous because a lot of people burned themselves buying the truegold in metric tons in the coming of the current patch, only to get burned because they thought that their price will skyrocket, due to the coming of the craftable weapons, from the Firelands daily vendors.
But, what they didn't take into account, was that it would take 28 days for the vendors to be opened up, and more importantly, it would require 5 orbs, from the crafter to make one, and that is where the problem was, because most people didn't have the orbs.

Well, one of the great things about the upcoming patch is, the fact that Chaos Orbs will be made tradeable, and now everyone can pick one up, and sell it on the AH. So from there, it can get to the hands of the crafters, and from there they will be able to manufacture many weapons, that will decorate the hands of the wannabe killers, and raiders, and in return will spike the need for Truegold for quite a bit, seeing as every weapon will need 8 truegold.

So there it is in a bunch, if you stocked up on truegold for the previous patch and thought you screwed yourself over, think again, because the price didn't budge then don't feel bad (unless you've sold them all for high price which in that case, who's a good gold goblin why you're a good gold goblin) because you will be able to make some good profit by selling them when the patch hits, or even if you are a bit on the fast side and buy off the Chaos Orbs off the AH the first day, or two while people still don't know about the change to the orbs being off the soulbound thing, then you might reap some high profits by selling the weapons at their old prices, but know that will not last, and you will surely see a sharp drop in their price few days in the patch.

So like always keep your eyes peeled for good opportunities out there.

Hopping On The Profit Train

So hopefully you've done your fair share of killing the direbrew boss event every single day with the promise of treasure, mounts and BoE's from the satchel, well unless you've had the most rotten luck of not getting a single drop (this was my luck actually) but even then there's very good profits to be made from this event that will end in 3 days.

What this gold making opportunity is a limited availability item that usually by now it's price has rock bottomed at 100-300g and that item is Tremendous Tankard O' Terror and this is the item you want to have in stock as soon as the holiday event is done.

The reason behind this is very simple, the item is actually an ok weapon for Rogues to pick up and it's a item level 365 weapon which puts it neck to neck with the other BS crafted items that sell for the better part of 10K on the AH, so you will have people willing to buy this weapon for three reasons. Main one would be those Rogues and Shamans out there (If it's not the best item i apologize but i saw AGI and thought of Rogues and Shamans), second one would be to break the ilvl requirement to get into the heroic ZA/ZG (this is what all the new level 80s dream of so they can get out of doing the random HC, unless they are rich which in that case they can buy the shiny epics and yes this means your item as well), and third and to be honest i think this would be the best reason and that is the Transmogrification coming next patch because there are sure to be people out there that will go for the look of having a big ass tankard in your hand while smashing people's brains with it.

So as a recap, you have about 3 days left to do your daily runs for the chance to get a tankard if you dont get it then check your AH for the item and buy it out if you see it at a 100-400g price range, wait for 1 week after the event is over and then repost them on the AH for somewhere between 2-4k (it will be a good DPS wise item for about 2 months which is how much time it's gonna take for the 4.3 to hit live servers) and even after the patch is live the item will still hold it's Visual quality and i'm quite sure people will be looking for it,

So i hope you get some good profits out of this item, and like always keep your eyes peeled for good opportunities out there.

The Very Basics

OK i know that i said in my first introductory post that all the upcoming posts will be about ways to make gold i'd like to use this post to clarify few of the things that you need to know before you start off on your quest which is to never ever be broke and on the verge of thinking of buying gold from the dubious gold sellers.

Ok for starters, in the blog i will cover some tactics of how to earn gold by using the auction house for finding deals, i will try and cover the bases on using your professions to make killer profits and i will even cover ways of making gold for the people out there that are emotionally attached to their gathering professions like skinning, herbalism and mining and don't want to drop them.

All you fine people have to do is simple, keep your minds open for new ideas, don't be afraid to invest gold even when at first it seems that you are gonna go bust, and in case you are one of those people that feel like that using addons in the game is cheating take a shotgun and shoot that feeling in the head.
So to sum it up, you might even call this the intro part two to the blog, if you want to make gold by using my advices you will have to do the following things:

  • Be willing to invest some of your play time into making things that will make you rich
  • Be willing to download, install and use addons that are specifically meant for the Auction House
  • Be willing to invest in some big bags because you will need them so you'll have somewhere to put all that gold that you are gonna get :)

Ok so starting the next post (this time i am positive) we'll see some ways that will help you make some gold if you are struggling down in the gutter.

Hello World !

Well as all good things have to start somewhere, i'm guessing this is as good as any other place to start my blog. Here is where i will deal with all the tricks, and tips of making piles of gold in the game that we all love, called World Of Warcraft.

Seeing how this is my first post i'll simply use it to tell you all something about my WoW life and who i am:

For starters i've been knee deep in the game since Beta, you know back when hunters could wear plate and warlocks could fear 30 people in AV at the same time. I've played the game through Vanilla, TBC, WOTLK and Cata.

I played on the US realms on The Scryers server for the first 2 years, and then migrated to the EU realms on the Skullcrusher server. I switched a few guilds there in the start, but then i got into Paranormal and i've been there for the better part of almost 4 years. Through the years i have leveled and played 10 characters, and all the possible professions in the game, and the only thing that hasn't changed in all those expansion packs and guild hopping and character swapping was my interest in the game within the game or better known as the Auction house.

We all have seen it and have sold our junk and our pride in it, but I like some other people have enjoyed using that aspect of the game to amass huge quantities of gold that we can use for purchasing the other things we might need to make the game more interesting for us.

But to cut the boring history short, the main reason why i finally decided to make the blog was mainly the huge amount of people asking me how i'm making the huge amounts of gold that i'm making so i wanted to have a place that i can direct people to go and check it out for themselves and prooly use it so they can make some gold as well.

So since we got the flimsy introductions out of the way hopefully starting the next post we'll start seeing some gold making strategies and tricks.
