MoP, Selling Caged Pets

   Mists of Pandaria is well on it's course, and from what i have seen already it is setting up to be an interesting expansion. We have new things to do, and new ways to make profit off from nearly every place we take a look at. Well today i chose to talk about a market that i think is going to be the next luxury market in WoW. As a clarification ,when i say a luxury market what i mean is a market that people buy/sell for commodities that aren't used to boost your raiding performance, nor make you a lean mean killing machine in PvP, an example for these luxury markets would be the Transmogrification and Pets markets.

   I have covered the section about making gold with pets in the past where we would craft or resell pets to people that were collectors and were willing to shell out top gold for them. Well with the new MoP pet battle system we have a whole new crowd coming in on a rather old market, and with their arrival the rules for the market are going to change.

   What this means is that, we used to sell the pets to people that only wanted them for the look, and now that they can do battle we are going to have people that are buying them for their combat abilities as well. 

   One thing that is important to know about combat pets is that you can tame a wild pet in the outdoors, but when you do that you can't "cage" him and then sell him on the AH (as far as i know and from what i have seen) but if you take a pet that you learned from an item, be it from a rare drop or a vendor pet and you level him up, then you can right click him in your pet list and from there you can choose to put him in a cage and then you can sell him on the AH for a hefty profit.

   There is another thing that is quite amazing with this patch about the pets market though, in a way Blizzard has made the pets to be shared across all your characters on your account, which in turn means that you end up on a globalized pet market. What i mean is simple, you want a pet Rat, but that Rat on your server is 1000g, you pop up on another server and you see it there for 1g, you buy that Rat there for 1g come back on your server and Boom you have a pet that you can either use, or resell for a hefty profit. Plus that same goes both ways, you can buy a pet from your server and then sell it on another server and make a starting capital if you want to change server.

   But back to the same server pet trading. One other thing that you might want to do is use up some smart advertising for your pets. Why this is a good idea is because people are still leveling their characters, and some by chance see the pet trainer and then they get hooked on the battle system. That is when you want to come in line and sell them the pet that they want, and the pet that will help them in the long run.

   So first thing you want to check is the AH, and see if maybe someone has posted a "leveled up" pet on there for a cheap price, then if they have you snag it and then try and peddle it, or if they haven't you have to level one yourself ,which is not all that hard. Your macro should be inviting and alluring to them, so use something like:

" Are you sick and tired of seeing your pets loose in a pet battle, well get your high level [Insert Pet Name] and never loose again "  

   In reality that is a bit of an over sale as the level of the pet has nothing to do with winning or loosing when he's facing a same level opponent, but that doesn't concern us, what we are interested in is making gold.

   So i am really curious to see how this market is going to morph in the coming months when people are done with leveling and are hard into the pet battle system, and they start buying/selling leveled combat pets.

   So, like always, keep an eye out for good opportunities out there.

"Rare" Pet To Be

   This year for the start of the Winter Veil we get the same thing we've been getting every year, presents!  Well this year there's one thing that's a bit different and that is the fact that you can make gold by simply opening your presents from Grandfather Winter, that's usually found in your faction capital. 

   The thing that's different this year that's making this to have the potential to be a gold maker is the change Blizzard did when they made the seasonal BoP pets to be BoE tradables. What this means is that after you've opened up your presents, to be more precise your Gaily Wrapped Present inside you will find a Snowman's Kit which's is a companion.

   Tricky part about this companion is that everyone can get it by simply picking up his presents, but you have to think on a larger scale. What i mean by this is, after this event is over people that are starting new characters, or even new players that jump in the game will want their pets, and the only way to get it would be from the AH, and that's where you come in. Just so you are clear on this one thing though, don't expect any fast gold, but seeing as how it doesn't cost you a single copper to acquire get a few in stock for a later date or a summer sale.

   So if you have an alt that you haven't played in a while, log on get your present, get your pet and then log out as there is no need for your alt that you don't play to not make you some coin down the road some time. 

P.S. I didn't notice earlier but the Gaily Wrapped Present can contain Green Helper Box, Jingling Bell, and Red Helper Box on top of the Snowman's Kit. So this means that these pets no matter how easy to obtain will not be obtainable with only one character so you can see some sales from people wanting to have all of them.

  So, like always, keep an eye out for good opportunities out there.

The Road Less Traveled

   Back at Blizzcon this year, Blizzard announced that in their next expansion of the game they are going to make a small change in the pet acquiring system, meaning all pets are going to be BoA. What does this mean to us ? Well if you are in the pet selling market that means that people will no longer have to buy that Winterspring Cub on 10 different characters but only one, and in return you will see a decrease in the demand for the pets. On the other hand if you are an owner of a site that sells TCG pets, well then you might get in the history books as someone that invented a new cuss word or words. But all this aside, the expansion is still some time away and we still have a lot of people buying pets for their characters, which in return means that that's a good market to get into.

   For this post i am going to tell you about my personally favorite route that i make before i go to bed, and when i wake up, because it takes about 5 minutes to do it and can net you in anywhere from 3-5k gold.

   Here's how this whole thing works. By the way, i've put in two way points in this line that are actual pet vendors that i usually visit when i am running short on the pets they are selling so you can skip them if you don't need them. First off i start with Winterspring and i go there so i can restock on Winterspring Cubs, which have been a good seller for a long time. 

   After i'm done with that i start flying south to the second marker that you can see in the Northern Barrens. The reason why i'm going there is to find Takk's Nest which has a 100% drop chance for the Leaping Hatchling pet that i've had the good fortune of finding quite a few times, and even better sell it at prices ranging anywhere from 200-2000g, all depending on the competition.

   After that i go further down south to Dustwallow Marsh, and there at the most northern part i start scurrying around trying to find Dart's Nest which like Takk's has a 100% to drop a pet, but this time it's a Darting Hatchling and this guy has been a great selling pet. The main reason why these pets are so good to sell, and why they are "rare" is simply because in order to find them you need to be looking for them. What this means is that you can walk right past them and not notice them because they don't have that sparkling effect like other lootable containers have, but rather you have to find them and click them to get them. If you were wondering how they look like you can see the nest on the image on the left, so it's pretty much like any nest you can see on the map there, with the only difference that you can click these.

   After i am done with this one, i continue down to Thousand Needles, to be more precise i go down to "Plucky" Johnson who is a pet vendor that only sells one type of pet, namely the Ancona Chicken but that's enough. I've made some good gold with this pet as well, as not many people are even bothering to read where it's dropping or where a certain pet can be bought.

   And the last stop on our travels is Ungoro Crater. What we are after in this place is the elusive Ravasaur Matriarch Nest and inside you can find the Ravasaur Hatchling. Reason why this nest is a pain in the butt to find is simply because there are many other nests scattered around there that you can't do anything with. Other then that same deal as the previous pets, prices ranging anywhere from 200-2000g.

   So it's always a good idea to fly around these places and scout around to see if maybe you end up with some free good earning pets.

Gold Pets Continued

   In my previous post about making gold from pets i mentioned some of the pets that you can acquire by simply walking up to various vendors and picking them up for some gold pieces, well now i'll drop the ball on some of the more profitable pets that are not that hard to obtain but do make a killer sale in the market.

   First of all i will start off by giving you the names of pets that can be crafted by using different professions that actually do sell quite well.

Tranquil Mechanical Yeti

  This pet has been one of my best selling pets due to the fact that anyone that has engineering can pick it up but it's like 99% of the people that do have engineering simply don't care to do the research about where to acquire the pattern to make it and even less people nowadays while leveling end up going to Winterspring and simply that is the place where you will find Umi Rumplesnicker and she is the NPC that will give you a few quests to finish which in return will grant you the pattern to make the Yeti ( YOU NEED TO HAVE ENGINEERING LEVELED TO 265 TO GET THE QUEST )

So after acquiring this pattern go ahead and start dominating the market and don't be afraid to tag it with 2k price because there has been sales where i have sold one for 4k, so play it smart and if you are the only one on the server doing so much better for you.

Mechanical Squirrel

  This pet is one of the easiest ones to get, the pattern is a random world drop for low level areas and there is usually a pattern up on the AH almost always and usually there are people trying to sell one for quite cheap but that doesn't mean you can't profit from it. For it's making it requires materials that you can usually get on the AH for anywhere under 20g and if it happens that no one is selling one you might be able to post and sell one for anywhere ranging from 100-400g. So bottom line it's a pet that has a very high profit margin but it's very slow to move and it only depends by your competition as how high it's price is going to go.

Pet Bombling

   This has been a very good seller for me basically because in order to make it you first need an engineer and then you need to run a Gnomeregan instance which nowadays almost no one does (I'm on horde side so yeah) so i've sold a bunch of these for a nice hefty price to go with it. The only down side of the little bugger is that you need a Big Iron bomb to make it so it's a bit of a hassle if the mats are not available on the AH at the time of your choosing

 Lifelike Mechanical Toad

   If you have had the luck of being one of those rare people to get the drop of the pattern, or even better to pick it up from the auction house posted by someone that didn't know the real worth of the item he was selling then you are in luck. What i mean is that this little toad is a very rare sighting on the AH and it's very rare to find an engineer that has it and even if you managed to find one that has it he probably has a monopoly on it and can ask for very high prices like 4-5k for it and actually manage to sell them, so definitely something to keep an eye out for.

 
Personal World Destroyer

   This little guy sells like hotcake and if you take into account that it's requiring materials that are current it only means that you can snag them for a cheap price and then go ahead and sell it on the AH for anywhere ranging from 500-2500g. The only drawback to this pet is that in order to be able to make it you need an engineer that has specialized in Goblin Engineering, and if you are that engineer then you can simply waltz up to the trainer and learn the pattern for him.

De-Weaponized Mechanical Companion

   This guy is basically the same deal as the Personal World Destroyer but instead of needing Goblin Engineering for it you need Gnomish Engineering. (YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE OR THE OTHER DEPENDING ON YOUR SPECIALIZATION AND NOT THE TWO ON THE SAME CHARACTER)

Enchanted Lantern

   This has been one of the best sellers in Cataclysm, as the reason why i could not tell you but it simply seems that people like going around while being followed by a flying lamp (I've seen rogues that have it in BG's while being in stealth but that's besides the point). The way to acquire this one is by having a maxed out level enchanter or a friend that has it maxed out, and the pattern for it is learned from the Twilight Highlands vendor or nowadays any enchanting trainer. (THIS IS HORDE ONLY ITEM)

Magic Lamp

   Same as the Enchanted Lantern but with the only thing being that this is ALLIANCE ONLY ITEM. (But you can sell it on the neutral AH if you want to sell it to us dirty hordes.

P.S. If you are playing Alliance and are a rogue, by all means do buy this one and always use it while you are in a BG it will make your skills multiply by 10x  :D

   Well in a bunch these are the companions that will make your pet market skyrocket if you are selling them and make your gold making skills get off the ground. So have fun spending that gold.

Got no professions but need gold, step right up !

  Ok, to be honest most of us don't remember those times when we were starting out the game, and everything was magical, and expensive, but we couldn't afford it because it was 10G. Well, for a lot of people it's still the same, but instead of those initial 10G ages ago, when there were no dailies to give you 300G per day, you had a quest that would give you 1g and those were finite. 

   

   Well now it's pretty much the same but the items cost 500g or 5000g, and your gathering professions are simply not cutting it when the stacks of herbs, or ore are selling for 10-15G for stack (price varies from server to server so don't take it for granted) so what do you do?

  Well you need some gold income, and how do you go about making it?  Well it's quite simple actually, you jump in a market that's usually not that crowded with suppliers, but has some nice amount of people increasing the demand.

  Ok, so by now you are thinking, what the hell is he talking about, and what is this market that we can use? Well PETS of course, and no, i'm not talking about dogs and cats, well actually there are cats but still i'm talking about those non combat companions, that you can get from all over the world, from random drops or vendors.

  Now that we have the market that we want to get into, i will give you a short info on where to get the pets, and how you should set the pricing for them. I will start by giving you the zone name and then the name of the vendor that you should visit as well as what he sells.
