Gold Making By Barking

   As i have stated in the past, there are many ways of making gold in WoW and as long as they are making you profit there is no better or worse way of doing it. Well actually to be honest i don't think that's all that true. In my experience there are two ways of making gold, first one by listing on the AH which is more of a passive list and forget style, and a more hands on approach where you take your goods to the trade channel. 

   Like i have said in the past about advertising it is a very good way of making those extra sales, and even getting a better price for your item. Well in this post i will try a cover a bit on how to go about with advertising and more importantly, how to make advertising work in WoW.

   One of the most important thing when advertising is making the other guy think that whatever it is that you are selling is so awesome, that if he doesn't have it his life would feel incomplete. Well maybe not to that extent, but you get the idea. In WoW the way this relates is quite simple, you need to convince the PvEer that your flasks, food, gems and enchants are somehow better then the other ones out there, and make the PvPers think that if they buy from you, somehow they will get better at what they are doing. So what we came to is that we need to have a way of Advertising that Works.

   So in order to get to this way of thinking we need to follow a few simple rules. First one of those rules is that you always must make sure that the item you are promoting is clearly stated, and that is done by linking your item or profession in the macro you are barking. And the second one is to make your macros interesting for the reader/buyer, while at the same time you can even offer a bonus of a sort. Let me elaborate a bit on this, and you will see where is the logic behind the advertising. 

   When trying to sell your goods, the best approach to the matter would be to go big or go home. This is the basic logic behind the work of the world's biggest supermarket chains. How does this translate into WoW you might ask, well simple actually. If you take on this mentality then what you are doing is basically taking on an entire market, be it enchants, flasks, food or gems and doing it on a scale that even if you are working on small profit margins it still pans out great at the end. 

   Well in order to get to this level you need a bit of preparation, and some clever advertising. The preparation part is where you get your "raw materials" in check for mass production, so if you are a alchemist get stocked up on herbs, if you are a jewelcrafter get stocked up on raw gems, well no point in going over every profession because i'm sure you get the idea. Up until now is basically what everyone is doing, but this next bit is what has made me a lot of gold and i don't think anyone else is doing it, so i'm am kind of proud of it.

   This unique thing i just told you about is a macro that i use to get people to look at me as a brand opposed to looking at me as a seller, and this is how it works. Seeing as i have all the professions maxed out, as many of you have, i have the ability to get into any market i desire. So what i do is i put all my items that i want to sell up on the Auction House and then get down to barking my macro a bit. If you are asking yourself what kind of a macro it is, well here it is:

/2 Are you in the market for gems, enchants, food or anything else for that matter? Well if you are check your local AH for items sold by Vile and with every purchase you stand to win in the weekly jackpot and get 100% of everything you spent back.

(reason why the macro says buy from Vile is simple, all my characters start with Vile so you can't miss it)

   What this means is that with every sale i make i get it recorded in the log of My Sales addon, and then i can simply see who has spent the most of that week then at the end of the week i simply whisper him and tell him that he has won and give him the amount of gold that he has spent. What this does is it makes him happy, but at the same time i bark trade and inform everyone that the winner is Mr.X and that he has won X amount of gold by buying from me. Next week goes about the same, we get another winner and bark trade again to inform who the winner is and by the third week you end up noticing something very weird, you start making sales even though you have been undercut by one, two or even more people, but somehow you are still making sales. Well this is what we were aiming for, to get established as a brand not a seller. What we have managed to do is get people to look for a name of the seller next to the item because they know that they stand to win and get all their gold back.

   

   So, like always, keep an eye out for good opportunities out there.

New Trade Skill Master

   Not many of us are aware but the tool we are all using to make all of our gold, namely TSM is coming up on it's one year anniversary. TSM was launched on January 15 2011, and now that it is almost one year old on the site of TSM dawned the information about a release version of the addon. 

   One of the main features of the release version over the beta version is the new tab that will be added in the auction house screen opposed to the rollover on the right side. As you can see on the preview on the left side the visual aspect of the addon has been changed a bit. But i really wouldn't want to make you read up on the addon from my point of view so i will give you the link to the main site so you can read up on all the information that are about the addon, like all the new features and what they have done with all the existing features of it.

   This is where you can read up all about the release version of the TSM addon.

Just to make it fair, i first got wind of this post from The Gold Mint so kudos go to him for this.

New In WoW ( Part 2 )

   This post is going to be a direct continuation from the First Part. In the first part i basically covered the start up to like level 15 and only pretty much covered the bare basics. Well in this continuation we are going to take a look at how we can start off making gold while we are leveling in the levels past 15 and what we should do. As an idea of what to expect here's a few guide lines for this post.

• TSM, install and setup
• Choose a right market to get into with the resources you have
• Choose professions
• Get your feet wet in the AH

   So lets get started with section then shell we.

   As we get to Orgrimmar ( i got there at level 15 but you might get there earlier ) we get to make a few purchases and meet a few people that will help us on our journey to awesomeness.

   One thing before we start going on and on about selling and buying though, you are going to need to download the addon that will be your bread and butter when it comes down to all things related to posting and cancelling all your auctions, and yes i am talking about TSM. I was going to put a direct link to download it but decided it would be a better idea if you actually downloaded the Curse client and then find it from there. If you still don't know what the Curse Client is you can download it straight from the Curse Gaming site.

   

   Now i'm guessing you already downloaded the TSM ( Trade Skill Master ) and now what you need to do is configure it, or at the very least know how to configure it. Now i could go on and on about how to do it, but hey i have done it before so why not check it out in the TSM Explained post.

   Now considering that you chose to read the TSM Explained post and you now know the basics of the addon, this is what mine looks like once i got into Orgrimmar. 

   As you can see i have two categories, and in those two categories i have made a few groups. The first one being Pets, so that means i got into the pet selling market right away. If you are wondering where i got those pets from, well then you might want to read up on two of my previous posts; Got no professions but need gold, step right up, as well as Selling the Obvious. 

 

   After reading those two posts you can see why i chose to make those three groups, as in them i have put all the pets and items i could buy off a vendor in Orgrimmar and put them on the AH straight away.

   The image on the left is the state of my gold purse after making my post last night before going to bed. I managed to sell 2 Blacksmith Hammer and 2 Mining Picks as well as some cloth. But needless to say, i made some gold by selling vendor items.

   Another thing you might want to do while in Orgrimmar if you haven't done so already is pick up some professions. If you are new in WoW or the server it's not a bad idea to pick up gathering professions, as they can get your some easy starting capital. Though if you want to get a jump start at the gold making, and get some quick gold you can take up the secondary professions cooking and fishing. The reason why i'm saying this is a good way to make a fast buck is the Savory Deviate Delight which is a quick seller and always a good source of income for new players.    So as it is now you have TSM installed, you have made a few additions in the Categories/Groups field and you have a few auctions up on the AH. Even though it might not sound like it's a lot, you have a firm base on which you will continue to build and eventually will make you tons of gold.

New In WoW (Part 1)

   At the start of this year me and a few of my friends started out new characters that we can all play together and have fun. We have done this many times, so many times actually that we are alt capped and can't make any more, so hence we started off on a new server.

  What this meant was actually a very interesting thing, i would not have my millions to back me up, nor will i have any  heirlooms to help me out. That is when it dawned to me, this is exactly how a new player in WoW would feel like but with the only difference being that he would not have my experience to help him. Well this post will be aimed at those people, the new kids on the block, or better yet the new goblins in training.

   I will try and make this into a multiple part series in which i will try and guide you through your new character, and help you get some profits to pay for your training, riding, gear and what not. Before i start getting deep into it i will state the few things you need to have in mind as a sort of a objective.

• Get into a level 25 guild ( it's fairly easy, and the reason is quite obvious if you have played WoW, you get perks that will get you more XP, and more importantly the Bountiful Bags perk)
• Buy yourself some intro level bags ( the 16 slot ones which go for anywhere 10-40g per bag )
• Choose your professions ( i wouldn't usually recommend gathering professions but seeing as how you should be broke it wouldn't hurt for now, at least until you get some capital going )

   These three should be the focus as for the first 10-15 levels.

( The following will be the basics seen through the eyes of a new Tauren Druid, but everyone will be able to use it no matter where they started off )

   Once you start out you are given quests to kill a bunch of mobs ( calling them as such because they are basically the same for all the quests in the low zones ) then deliver a few boxes and similar. This is the part that is kinda boring, but still if it's your first time you are on your way to pew pew evil creatures and you are having fun. 

   Well once you start off you will find out that your initial bags of like 8 slots will be filled up very fast. This is where all the people do the logical thing, they vendor their unneeded "garbage". Well you know the saying one man's trash is another man's fortune ? Well this is just that case. In the starting zones you will be tasked with killing many boars and wolves among other things. Killing these you will get Stringy Wolf Meat as well as Linen Cloth from the humanoids you kill, and if you picked up skinning by chance you will get Ruined Leather Scraps and Light Leather. 

   As you have just started out and have not sold your drops, by the time you get to a major city you will have the meat, the cloth and the leather to sell. The lowest tier of meat might not be the best sellers but you will find out that the meats you sell that are coming from mobs that are level 10 and above can net you in some great profits. As for the cloth, that is always a good seller, even at the low tiers starting from like wool and up.

   As soon as you get to like level 10 and are ready to venture out of your starting zone you should have some starting gold be it even as low as 10g. In the next part of this series i will cover how to go from having like 10g to 500g and from there the options will be limitless.

Working Now For The Next Hot Thing

   So back again for the first post of this year, and i would like to make it about my favorite market but with a little bit of a twist. 

   This post is going to be one of those posts where you start making the preparations now so you can reap the benefits later, so i am afraid that a quick gold flip is not going to be the case here. What i mean by this is actually very simple, yet a lot of people that have Jewelcrafting will not do it, and many that have done it will get out of the market, but without further ado i'll get down to the facts.

   The whole deal is with the rare gems of Cataclysm. What i mean by this is, keep doing your dailies if you haven't collected all the rare patterns. Somewhere down the road when Mists Of Pandaria will ship it's most likely that Blizzard will take the same route they did with the Wrath gems and remove any item level requirement from them and they will end up being the hot deals that the Wrath gems are now, as every twink will want one for their gear.

   The reason why i'm stating that the rare gems will be the hot deals opposed to the epics is the fact that the only way to obtain the epics is through a raid, which will not be the actual raid after the the expansion. Now if Blizzard does decide to drop in a transmutation pattern for epics, then it would be profitable to have that as well as they are going to be highly sought after gems. 

   The reason why i primarily made this post is that at a later date when this ends up being very profitable i can point out and say that i told everyone that it will happen, and i even told you 6 or more months upfront so you have ample amounts of time to get ready. So if you have all your Rare patterns and working on your epics then good for you, if you haven't done your dailies then don't miss out on the good payday that they are going to bring to you even after their time has passed.

   So to sum it up, i am telling you to get ready for the twink gems, and if you want to know are they worth it and is there any gold in it, well i have been doing it on my server and seeing as how no one else is bothered to get into the market i have it all by myself, so i end up racking up anywhere from 3-10k per 24h post cycle.
